The unidentified object, which has been likened to one of the eggs from the movie 'Alien', was found off the coast of Alaska.
Discovered by researchers during an ongoing National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) expedition, the 'egg' was gold in color and made of a thin, skin-like tissue. It was found approximately two miles beneath the surface of the Pacific off the Alaskan coast.
"Something tried to get in... or to get out," said one of the researchers.
To study it further, the team used a remotely-operated arm and vacuum to retrieve it and bring it back up to the surface where DNA testing will hopefully reveal more about it.
