Smartphones have become the ultimate symbol of our complacency. Anyone who has done any cursory research on the NSA should know that when we use these devices, we are exchanging our privacy for convenience. It’s no longer a secret that cell phones are built with back doors that allow government snoopers to hack them at will. They can activate the cameras and microphones without your consent or awareness, and listen in on your conversations. They can even do it when your phone is turned off. If however, you know your way around the internal components of the phone, you can enhance its security with a few quick modifications. During a recent interview with Vice CEO Shane Smith, Edward Snowden revealed how to make a cell phone “go black,” so that the NSA can’t eavesdrop on your real world conversations ( via thedailysheeple.com ).
