Proof of Bigfoot's existence? Hunt is on in New Mexico after thermal imaging reveals mysterious 7-foot tall figure in mountainous woods
A mysterious creature believed to be living in the woods of northern New Mexico has caught the attention of a team of biologists and researchers who believe they've discovered likely evidence of a genuine Bigfoot.
Recently members of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization visited the Jemez Mountains after thermal video taken by high school students captured what they believe could publicly prove the existence of the evasive ape-like creature.
The students behind the video that shows an estimated 7-foot tall figure say they were doing a project in the woods in 2011 when they captured it walking along a ridge line.

Bigfoot? Members of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization visited northern New Mexico after seeing this thermal video which captured what they believe could be a real-life Bigfoot creature
Zooming in: The thermal image is seen up close with the figure seen slightly hunched forward and estimated to be approximately 7-feet in height
BFRO approximated that the figure, seen slightly hunched forward with one foot moving before the other, was about 140 yards away when recorded.
The filmmakers describe the footage as taken in a remote area with no other campers or hiking trails around.
'No bear, elk or deer sign found. Wide body, over 7' tall, classic Sasquatch shape,' the video describes.
In addition to the footage was the discovery of a large footprint found nearby in the snow.
The picture shows five toes at the end of a near rectangular print but it's accepted with greater hesitancy by BFRO as being real than the thermal video seen.
Footprint: Additional evidence under review is this photo of a giant barefoot seen pressed in the snow
Comparison: Hoping to help deduce the figure's identity the Bigfoot researchers had a member of their team stand in the same place with that man seen right being 6¿2¿ tall
Who's taller? The team compared the unidentified creature on the left to the human on the right with a red bar to emphasize their height differences
'It's not extremely compelling, there are some funny things about it, but at the same time the footage at least looks like it might possibly be real,' Cliff Barackman, BFRO Evidence Analyst says on his Animal Planet TV program, Finding Bigfoot.
At least one of the Bigfoot hunters, a field biologist, has admitted her skepticism over the footage's authenticity based on how it was collected.
'It's three high school kids out doing a field study for some class and they see something up on the hill and they happen to have a camera with them and they record it. That raises red flags for me,' said Ranae Holland who emphasized it being too good to be true.
Another member says that while high schoolers would be most likely to stage something like this, they're also least likely to get away with it, prompting his team's investigation.

Hoping to scientifically deduce the footage, the team positioned one of their members named Bobo in the same area the figure was recorded.
They then compared his height of 6’2” to the other one seen, finding him to be significantly smaller in scale while placing a red bar over both to emphasize size differences.
But this thermal imaging isn't the spark claims of a Bigfoot living in this part of New Mexico.
During BFRO's visit they met with citizens of the area in a town hall meeting, welcoming their own stories and encounters to be shared.
A woman in Jemez Springs opened up about her own encounter which brought nervous tears to her eyes as she recalled.

'I woke up in the middle of the night, went to get out of the bed. My window faces this way, and there was something in my window. It didn't have a neck at all,' she said.
BFRO credits itself as the only scientific research organization exploring the Bigfoot/Sasquatch mystery after its founding in 1995, according to their website.
That page lists a number of facts behind their belief, including sightings of 'large, hair-covered, man-like animals' throughout North America for more than 400 years.
Some of the earliest reports by Native Americans they say 'bear a striking resemblance to the hairy man-like creatures reported today.'
