So, Christ was not crucified on a cross, he was crucified on a tree or a pole. The 'cross' that the gospels and the Pauline writings talk about is more of a reference to doin what ya need to do, responsibilities. Check the Greek work stauros in the Greek, it means pole, not cross.

the Romans used scaffold for crucifixion. so its true that Christ would not have been dragging an actual cross on the way to Golgotha, but rather a beam. however, once they pulled Him up there onto the scaffold, a cross of the beams presented the appearance of what in common usage would be seen as a cross.

So maybe it was a pole, we have evidence that there was another pole at a right angle to the mast and that the arms of the victim were fastened to, that being said, what about it?

Whatever this structure is, it was there 31 millions years ago. Doubt it looks like that now.
