A mystery has been on the internet since 2013, and it revolves around the above image. This photograph, attributed to M. Peterka ca. 1940, seems to lack all provenance. One day an image of a man (or woman) kneeling in front of a giant book simply appeared. Though the image is often said to have come from the Archives of Prague Castle, the Librarian Shenanigans blog has chatted with the head archivist there who claims it is not from their archives.

I'd assume where there's one photo there's more from this photog on that day; ya don't really save film for trees and pets when at a place like that? The books look well used or well moved around, not just old, as well. As books that large extant and these might just be the copies the library had? Everything is a guess in this pic, even the real-ness of it, and if real we all just know its an older photo of big books. It relays a bit of quality info, but there's guesses made which integrates well with a lot of folks various and divergent believes, background evidence to bolster them, thus fun for perpetual nay-sayers to attack, saying books, big deal. They are cool, great for eBay or Antiques Roadshow, would make a lot of news sites if somebody dug one up, especially with the high res photos (and tripod) regular gear can produce now (photo of each page and stitch together a PDF). Fun stuff, hopefully not creepy content, idiots would run with it, try it, mess stuff up for themselves and others. Likely Nazi's in their hunt for artifacts took them, I understand their 50(?) field offices around the globe which collected this kind of stuff never had treasures recovered / made public, a lot of that stuff likely already public / known before them stealing and buying stuff. Average Joe never gets to go to the cool libraries! Old big books were made and exist, some just like these are out there in public? One-off works without multiply copies made on a press pictured? Probably stolen and the guy said he lost it and had to pay a 50 dollar library fee. Thank you for taking the time to report on the photo.

AND WHAT? You don't think that photograph was not conjured up in a photo lab in that day and age. Today we call it photo-editing or photo-shopped. Who in their right mind would place any significance on a picture like that. And then here you and many others actually buying into the BS as if was read.

Whether he's right or wrong, I thought you might be interested to know that, coming from someone who is only looking at the comments and doesn't know either of you, Arizona appears to be the intelligent one and you, a child. Just to give you some perspective.

These could be books written by the Giants of Genesis 6:3 and later.

He always was a fraud. Oh the world is ending right now, buy toms of long term food, survival supplies and gold from me quick. The only reason he hates the per0-trib theory is it costs him sales. Steve Fayle is a "profit" of this world, nothing more.

Photo-shopped - notice the shelving size and the other papers are book sized as well -- take out the midget and its all to scale

Yeah, looks fake. Notice the width of the floor boards, which look about right compared to a regular book. And a dead giveaway is the slots in the metal shelving above the lower row of books. No one manufactures metal shelving for giant books, and the slots are all spaced just like SteelCase shelving. I'm calling bogus, which is too bad because I would love to find a bunch of books that the giants read and read them myself.

Jerry is spot on, shelves give it away as photoshop art.

Some interesting comments, but, never the less erroneous!! Such as the quote about the metal shelving & the slots, which ARE in proportion to the Books on them, which are smaller than the giant ones!! It is also quite feasible that the shelving is a recent addition & not ancient!!

Your comments about the shelving are incorrect!! Haven't you noticed the Books on them ARE smaller than the giant ones my friend!!

It is a fake, everything it to proportion except the person, and it and their shadow was added. the bookshelf is normal sized as is the books bookmarks and the writing in the books but the key is the shadows. There is a strong light from behind the left of the camera. On the person it exists from the right on the left of them. They didn't cast a shadow from the bright light behind them like everything else is subject too, the whole shadow depth mix is wrong.

Your comments & observations were not correct!! The Man IS in proportion to the top row of shelves & the Books on them!! As for the modern metal shelving, it is quite feasible that was added fairly recently & need not be old!! As mentioned in a previous Post!!

It is an excellent Photoshop job, taking a close up of regular size books and downsizing a photo of a man and pasting them both together. I do Photoshop work in an ad agency and we can create images like this in the matter of hours, in high detail at the pixel level, impossible to discern it from an actual photograph. Easy peazy.

Yes it is possible to do something similar in Photoshop, but, your comments "do not quite stack up"!! For instance - you HAVEN'T seemed to have noticed that the Man is actually in proportion to the top shelves of Books & NOT downsized!!

These tomes are the books of the ancient ones, the giants, descendants of the nephilim who roamed the lands in days of old, way before Knights were bold.
